How to Take Successful Pumpkin Patch Photos of a Toddler

It's fall, so you know what that means... pumpkin patch photos.  It's the equivalent to the Springtime bluebonnet photos. Parents drag their color coordinating children out to some farm / field / festival and try to get them to sit still long enough to take the most perfect and adorable photo so they can post it on Instagram / Facebook and have everyone tell them how cute their kids are.

I am no exception.

So here, I give you, the last guide you will ever need on taking successful [insert season here] photos of your children.

Step 1:

Make sure you go on the busiest weekend there is. You'll want to insure there is a crowd of people in the background of all your photos.  This will also help you feel rushed so you can hurry and snap a few pictures and move on to the next scene.

Step 2:

Make sure there is something that will terrify your toddler.  This makes the whole process much more efficient.

Step 3:

Make sure you don't adjust your camera settings until the kids are in place and you are ready to begin shooting.

Step 4:

Make sure there is plenty of sun.  You don't want the kids to be able to keep both eyes open for every shot.

Step 5:

Make sure the kids are in a grumpy mood and don't want to be there.  This may seem obvious, but a lot of times gets overlooked.

Step 6:

Make sure there are no less than 6 inflatable play structures.  You want the kids to be as distracted as possible.

So there you are.  A parent's guide to perfect and adorable pumpkin patch photos.

Perfect Instagram-worthy photos every time!
